Work together in an app only one of you has access to

Your colleague or client does not have an account for your dashboard, admin panel or design tool. Here is how to work in it together, with you in control.

Short answer: share your screen and let the other person use their own mouse and keyboard in your app, while you stay in the call. They can click, type and try things in your dashboard, admin panel or tool, without an account, a password or an invite. You see everything and stop sharing whenever you want.

The situation

Many tools are used heavily by one person and occasionally by others:

  • the analytics or ad dashboard that only the marketer logs into;
  • the admin panel of a webshop or CMS;
  • the accounting package of a small business;
  • a design, video or 3D tool on the designer's Mac;
  • a client's system that you were given access to, and your colleague was not;
  • an AI tool with one paid seat.

When someone else needs to look at something or do something in it, the usual options are clumsy. You share your screen and say "click there", you take screenshots, or you share your password, which you should not do.

How to do it with Pairio

  1. Call the other person by clicking their name in Pairio, or send them a link. Without the app, they join from their browser, on any computer.
  2. Share your screen and open the app.
  3. Hide what they do not need to see. Pairio's App Mask hides apps such as Mail, Messages and Slack from the person watching.
  4. Let them take over. They use their own mouse and keyboard in your app. You stay in the call and see every click.
  5. Point and explain with the pen when you want to show them where to look.
  6. Stop sharing when you are done. Nothing stays behind on their side: no password, no session, no account.

Why this works better than the alternatives

  • No shared passwords. The login stays yours and stays on your Mac.
  • Faster than explaining. Doing it yourself is quicker than talking someone through it, for both of you.
  • You stay in control. You are in the call the whole time and can stop sharing at any moment.
  • Sharp enough for real work. Small numbers in a dashboard or settings in an admin panel stay readable, unlike in most meeting tools.

Fewer accounts, more done

Not everyone who needs a tool needs their own seat. In most teams one person uses a tool every day, while others only need it now and then: for a quick look, a second opinion or a small change. With Pairio they simply join you on your screen and work in the tool together with you, like a colleague pulling up a chair at your desk. No extra account for someone who barely uses it, no waiting for an invite, and the job is done in minutes.

When Pairio is not the right choice

  • The other person needs to work in the app on their own, regularly. Then they need their own account.
  • The app contains information they may not see. Hide that app, or do not share at all.

Questions people ask

Does the other person need an account for my app? No. They work on your screen, in your session, while you are in the call.

Do they need to install anything? No. They can join from their browser and still click and type in your app. Your own Mac needs the Pairio app.

Can they see my other apps? They see your screen. Use App Mask to hide apps they should not see, and close anything sensitive before you share.

Can they do something without me seeing it? No. Everything happens on your screen, in front of you.

How many people can join? Up to 4 people per call.
